It could pass off as an Arabic name as well, Jarad or Jirad, if you want to Arabicize the name. Ending it with "Rod" makes it kind of silly. "Rad" though, makes it rather a cooler spelling. Makes people say, "That's kind of a rad name, Jarad!" instead of, "I need a rod to open this jar..."
